Dr. Nicholls was born in Newport News, Virginia and his family moved to Dothan when he was three years old. He attended Northview High School and then went on to graduate Cum Laude from Birmingham Southern College majoring in Religion. He continued his education at the University of South Alabama where he was awarded a Doctorate of Medicine in 1999. Dr. Nicholls then completed an Obstetrics and Gynecology Internship and Residency at the University of Cincinnati in 2003. He and his wife moved back to Dothan in July of 2003 to join Women's HealthCare of Dothan.
Dr. Nicholls is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. During his residency, he received the V. Bradley Roberts Memorial Award from The Christ Hospital, honoring the Chief Resident with outstanding operative gynecologic ability. He was also awarded the Esprit de Corps Award by the faculty at the University of Cincinnati for best exemplifying "A Spirit of Cooperation and Congeniality." Dr. Nicholls is a member of the Medical Association of Alabama, the Houston County Medical Society and the American Society of Laparoscopic Surgeons.
On a personal note, Dr. Nicholls is married to Dr. Melanie Nicholls, formerly Melanie Pike of Montgomery. They have three sons: Nathan, Will and Andrew. They are active members of Harvest United Methodist Church. In his free time he enjoys digital photography, reading and spending time at the lake with his family and dogs.
