Mrs. Short was born and raised in Opp, Alabama where she graduated from Opp High School. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Troy University in 1996. She attended nurse practitioner school at the University of South Alabama where she received her Master of Science in Nursing and Women's Health Nurse Practitioner degree in 2001. She received her Doctorate of Nursing Practice from Troy University in 2014.
Mrs. Short is certified by the National Certification Corporation(NCC) for the Obstetric, Gynecologic, and Neonatal Nursing specialties as a Women's Health Care Registered Nurse Practitioner since 2002. She is a member of Nurse Practitioners of Women's Health (NPWH), American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), Alabama State Nurses Association (ASNA), and the Wiregrass Nurse Practitioner Association. She was inducted in to Sigma Theta Tau International nursing society and Alpha Theta Chi Collegiate Honor Society. Her doctoral research focused on skin cancer prevention where she received a presentation award for her doctoral research. She is published and has presented lectures at local, state, and national conferences. Throughout her career, Mrs. Short has taught future nurses and nurse practitioners at the undergraduate and graduate level.
Mrs. Short is married to retired Master Sergeant Jamie Short. They have three daughters Ashley, Abigail, and Anna. During her free time, she enjoys pampering her Boston Terriers and spending time with her family.
